"There is in this world no such force as the force of a person determined to rise. The human soul cannot be permanently chained." - W.E.B. Du Bois In these very exhausting and heavy times, individuals, families, and children continue to be inhumanely taken by ICE and held in prisons simply for existing. We also know: resistance comes from the collective. From our care for one another. From refusing to look away. We continue to hold space for both the heartbreak and the hope. We honor the strength of immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, visa holders, and those undocumented and we remain committed to showing up with compassion, advocacy, and unwavering belief in liberation. #CIMH #CoalitionforImmigrantMentalHealth #CollectiveCare #Resistance

CIMH friends! We have recently launched our Let's Talk Facts campaign dedicated to debunking harmful myths and uplifting facts of immigrant and refugee communities. Next up is to organize a few 3-hour community teach-ins! We are looking for ideas for communities who are open to and ready to learn and engage. Any ideas or suggestions are most welcome! If you have any thoughts or ideas, please comment them down below, DM them, or you can email them to Cindy, our Executive Director, at cindy@ourcimh.org. Thank you and looking forward to your collaboration with us! #CIMH #CoalitionforImmigrantMentalHealth #TeachIns #LetsTalkFacts

"Navigating Chicago's Immigration Court is Complicated." This title alone causes a spike in anxiety. This is one of the many reasons the work of CIMH is so important. Every new policy or practice or executive order has incredibly heavy (and life-threatening) direct consequences that we can see in people's lives. But it is important to also give a voice to the harm we may not be able to see -- the extreme psychological and emotional toll caused by these unjust, inhumane, and divisive policies and rhetoric we are seeing every minute of every day.
