On April 2, the Civiltech Nature-based Solutions (NBS) team kicked off the NBS Book Club! The book club is open to all Civiltech staff. The first book discussion was on “Nature’s Wild Ideas,” by Kristy Hamilton, which looks how nature inspires science and innovation. We look forward to digging into more NBS-related books followed by robust discussions! www.civiltechinc.com #TeamCiviltech #NatureBasedSolutions #Engineering #CivilEngineering #TransportationEngineering #Engineering

Tomorrow is Walk to Work Day! Get up a little earlier, put down your car keys, and enjoy this healthy and earth-friendly way to start the day. Civiltech celebrates walking as a significant component of our region’s transportation networks. We look at all projects through a Complete Streets lens to ensure that our designs include safe, accessible, equitable, and aesthetically pleasing pedestrian facilities to the extent possible within the context of a project. www.civiltechinc.com #WalktoWorkDay #Engineering #CivilEngineering #TransportationEngineering #TransportationPlanning #CompleteStreets

Civiltech Transportation Planners Lissa Sweeney, AICP, LEED AP, and Edith Portales, MUPP participated in a pop-up event at the Oak Brook Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. Lissa and Edith were on hand to share information about the Oak Brook ADA Transition Plan and share potential improvements. The event provided the opportunity to gather community feedback about barriers to accessibility in the Village and to get input on criteria used in determining the project priority. The panic of a computer crash. The agony of a power outage. Remembering to hit save a moment too late. Today is your reminder to backup your data frequently, use reliable storage solutions, keep backups offline, use good security practices, and have a plan in place for recovery. Take the pledge: “I solemnly swear to backup my important documents and precious memories on March 31st.” www.civiltechinc.com #worldbackupday #Engineering #CivilEngineering #TransportationEngineering #TransportationPlanning #LandscapeArchitecture

Civiltech is leading the Village of Mount Prospect Transit Study. The goal of this study is to identify how public transportation can best serve residents of Mount Prospect, particularly for transit-dependent populations within the community, such as youth, older adults, those with disabilities and low-income households, who may rely on public transportation as a primary mode of transportation. A public survey is open through the end of the month to gather feedback from the community on public transportation needs. In addition to pop-up meetings, focus groups, and dropping off flyers throughout the Village, car cards are on display on Pace buses and shelter ads are on display in Pace shelters! Civiltech designed the car cards and shelter ads in an effort to directly reach community members who currently use public transportation.
