POV: When you’re the director of the City’s Environmental Services Department and your daughter is a super fan. 🗑️🚛♻️ Meet Kirby Brady, who is a San Diego native and has a passion for public service. This month, the City is bringing forward a proposed fee for trash and recycling collections. For the past 100 years, many San Diegans have not paid a fee for trash and recycling services. The proposal, which will be presented to the City Council on April 14, is intended to fully fund the costs of services for more than 200,000 residential properties. This week is Tsunami Preparedness Week, a reminder to stay informed about the resources available in the event of a tsunami. A tsunami is a series of powerful ocean waves caused by events such as underwater earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions or meteorites. San Diego building owners: The deadline to submit exemption requests for energy usage data to the City is coming up soon. Please submit your exemption via BEAM by March 31. You must submit data if the building is nonresidential, multifamily or mixed-use, at least 50,000 square feet, and has 17 or more utility accounts. If whole-building data is unavailable, the building was unoccupied for more than half the year, or scheduled for demolition, exemption requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
