Governor Gavin Newsom visited Modesto to showcase the City’s success at providing career and technical education for residents with and without college degrees. The governor first participated in a roundtable discussion with Mayor Sue Zwahlen and other leaders before speaking in front of the MJC Regional Fire Training Center. As Mayor Zwahlen noted in her remarks, “We stand together, ready to empower and support the students who chose career and technical education paths, where a community for one becomes a community for all.”

The City of Modesto and Stanislaus County community gathered today to celebrate the opening of Dignity Village Modesto. As Mayor Sue Zwahlen stated, "we are doing more than unlocking the door to housing for individuals experiencing homelessness, it is giving them a fresh start, a place where they can feel safe and comfortable, and even for just a moment, relief from the uncertainty of their lives and daily challenge to survive."
