There's still time to decide what you want to submit for next Saturday's “Fill a Time Capsule” event! The event happens Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in front of the Latonia Branch of the Kenton County Public Library, and the City wants all Covington citizens to have an opportunity to submit items for consideration. The City is partnering with the Kenton County Public Library and LINK nky media for the event. Contents for the time capsule will be finalized by April 30 in time for the time capsule dedication on Tuesday, May 13, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., at the corner of Russell Street and Stewart Alley at the Covington Central Riverfront. The dedication will follow the presentation of the City’s annual Authenti-CITY and Historic Preservation Awards. The Cov celebrates Arbor Day with tree planting, seedling giveaway/Volunteers needed Saturday to dig holes at Goebel Park. The celebration of Arbor Day in The Cov will last throughout the month of April, and kicks off this week with two events at Goebel Park On Friday, April 4, at 11 a.m., the Kentucky Division of Forestry and the City will partner up for a Kentucky Arbor Day Ceremony at Goebel Park, at 501 Philadelphia St. The event will feature the planting of a memorial tree, followed by a seedling giveaway of 200 Bald Cypress seedlings. On Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to noon, get ready to do some digging for more plantings when the Covington Urban Forestry Board hosts its Spring Tree Planting in Goebel Park. A special e-waste drop-off event April 5 at computer refurbisher BlairTech in Latonia will kick off a vibrant partnership that will give residents a year-round recycling opportunity. The event – from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at BlairTech’s Tech Castle retail location at 4314 Boron Drive – is in addition to the City’s annual e-waste drop-off event in June at Holmes High School’s parking lot. The new event will be held in partnership with the City of Covington and Keep Covington Beautiful, a program of The Center for Great Neighborhoods.
