Think Law Firm absorbs 24-strong TianTong Shanghai team https://lnkd.in/gcbcKG4Q    After operating TianTong Law Firm’s Shanghai branch for five years, director Xu Feifan has brought the entire team of 24 to Think Law Firm where she took over.    To date, 39 employees have joined Think Law Firm including two partners from Shanghai, Zou Xiaochen, a former TianTong partner, and Chen Zhongnan, a former senior partner at AllBright Law Offices. Chen is currently the head of the boutique firm’s construction team.     Xu told China Business Law Journal: “Think Law Firm and TianTong’s ideology, strategies and positioning are highly aligned, with a focus on high-end dispute resolution. We will continue to maintain an integrated team model, none of the lawyers are commission-based.”    Xu stepped away from the Shanghai branch, which she co-founded with her mentor Jiang Yong in 2020. Jiang, the founder of TianTong, was a trailblazer in China’s legal sector and left a mark on the commercial dispute resolution field. Hui Zhong expands to Singapore, forms HK alliance https://lnkd.in/dnqC6nqU    Beijing-based Hui Zhong Law Firm has doubled down on its foreign expansion by forming an alliance with Hong Kong boutique outfit GH Legal in February and opening a new branch in Singapore.     Managing partner of Hui Zhong’s Hong Kong branch, Xiaohu Ma, told China Business Law Journal: “We hope to develop steadily based on the current foundation, with the primary goal of taking on more cases and improving service quality.”     After combining forces, Hui Zhong’s Hong Kong branch now has six foreign-registered lawyers, including Ma and GH Legal’s principal, George Hui.     Almost a month later, Hui Zhong opened its first overseas office in Singapore. Xiaomi Technology has raised HKD42.5 billion (USD5.5 billion) after completing the sale of 800 million shares on 27 March, with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates, Jingtian & Gongcheng, Latham & Watkins, JunHe LLP and ZHONGHAO LAW FIRM, LLP advising the issuer and the underwriters.     This is the third-largest lightning fundraiser in the Hong Kong market to date, hot on the heels of BYD’s HKD 43.5 billion placement, completed on 11 March this year, and Meituan’s HKD 54.2 billion placement, sealed in April 2021.     Skadden acted as Xiaomi’s international law counsel, with Paloma Wang leading the team. Yuting Wu and Brian Egan counselled on US securities law and US Foreign Investment Committee matters, respectively. Jingtian & Gongcheng advised Xiaomi on PRC law, while Zhonghao’s Lin Yang also counselled the issuer.     Latham & Watkins and JunHe advised the placement agents Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and CICC. Benjamin Su, Daying Zhang 张大颖 and Terris Tang led the Latham team. James Barker assisted on regulatory matters.
