Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday that President Trump's economic policy changes, including his sweeping tariffs, "are highly likely to generate at least a temporary rise in inflation," and that the inflation "could also be more persistent." Powell said at the event hosted by the Economic Club of Chicago that the Fed would work to make sure that "a one-time increase in the price level does not become an ongoing inflation problem."

The Chinese government has reportedly told the country’s domestic airlines to stop accepting deliveries of Boeing jets as a trade war between the world’s two largest economies escalates. China is also instructing its carriers to stop buying airline parts and other components from U.S. companies, according to Bloomberg News, which cited people familiar with the situation.

American Airlines will offer loyalty program members free Wi-Fi beginning in January 2026. The perk, which will be offered through a partnership with AT&T, will initially only be available to airline AAdvantage loyalty program members.

Most taxpayers are staring down an April 15 deadline for filing their taxes, unless they ask for an extension or reside in one of 13 states where the Internal Revenue Service has extended the filing cutoff date due to natural disasters in those areas. The IRS on Monday said that all residents of both  Arkansas and Tennessee qualify for an extension because of storms, flooding and tornadoes that affected those states starting on April 2. Instead of the normal tax deadline of April 15, residents in those states will have until Nov. 3, 2025 to file and pay any taxes that would have otherwise been due before the extended deadline, the tax agency said. People in other states and counties that experienced natural disasters can also qualify for more time to file, the IRS said earlier this month.
