Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities (Metro HRA) will be accepting online applications to join the waitlist for the Section 8 Housing Voucher program. Applications will be accepted any time between 9am on April 9th to 12pm on April 16th. The Career Force at Carver County will be hosting help sessions with housing staff from Metro HRA and Carver County's Housing Unit to assist with applications. We are honored to have received an Award of Excellence from National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO)! While at the NAHRO Washington D.C. conference, we were presented with an Award of Excellence for our partnership with Beyond New Beginnings! We are grateful to have received 1 of the 14 Awards of Excellence that were awarded across the nation to recognize innovative programs that improved communities in 2024. Entrants were submitted to the national level from the Award of Merit entries at the regional NAHRO level. Last week, we hosted a Landlord Tenant Law training for managers and service providers at the Chaska Event Center. The presentation from HOME Line covered a number of landlord tenant laws that have went into effect over the last couple of years, including some as recent as January 1st of this year! #cccda #landlordtenantlaw #housing

What does home mean to you? National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) holds a "What Home Means to Me" poster contest every year for grades K-12 who live in affordable housing across the country. The contest is a collaborative effort of NAHRO's state, regional, and national organizations. Various CDA properties hosted events for the 2025 poster contest, and we are grateful to have had an awesome turnout! As an Agency, we were able to submit 5 of the posters (pictured below) to Minnesota NAHRO where they will be voted on for a chance to advance to the regional and national level. In the end, 12 winners will be featured in NAHRO's "What Home Means to Me" calendar for 2026. #home #cccda #affordablehousing

Executive Director, Allison Streich, attended the Washington D.C. conference and Day on the Hill hosted by National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO). Allison met with members of congress and spent time discussing all things housing related. The Carver County CDA recently broke ground on Carver Oaks! Carver Oaks will consist of 43 units of 55+ affordable housing located in the City of Carver. This building is located on the parcel adjacent to Carver Place. We are excited to be moving forward with this project and look forward to the building opening in 2026!
