It’s time to rethink employer—training provider partnerships. Too often, workforce development programs focus on short-term job placement rather than long-term career paths—leading to high turnover and limited long-term impact. Nonprofits play an important role in workforce development, including bridging skills gaps between local talent who are ready to work and employers who need skilled workers to grow. Our strategic partner The JPI Group helps non-profits, workforce boards, and employers create workforce development solutions that jump-start long-term careers and build sustainable local economies. What needs to change? • Shift from job placement to talent pipeline development • Work with employers to co-create training programs that align with actual skills needs • Require career growth commitments from employer partners The workforce programs of the future must go beyond training to drive economic mobility. But by rethinking employer partnerships, nonprofits can help build sustainable career opportunities for local talent. Want to learn more about how JPI is working with employers, nonprofits, and training providers to strengthen workforce development programs? Career training program Willdan Clean Energy Academy doubled its size, while improving job placement rates by 10%. How did they do it? With help from CareerEquity, Willdan overcame one of the biggest hurdles within the workforce development community – data tracking. This clean energy industry training partner is building a pipeline of skilled workers to meet the growing demands of the sector. The need is great: for both skilled workers to meet demand, and for access to job opportunities within local communities. So great, in fact, that the program has trained 1,000+ members of their local community and placed 60% of them, targeting high-paying jobs in the clean energy industry. But more participants and employer partners means more program data to collect and understand. And tracking the growing number of training program graduates is a challenge that just keeps growing…. Willdan collects data on employment opportunities, application success rates, and candidates’ advancement along career pathways to help measure their long-term impact. To do so, they depend on CareerEquity’s unified workforce development platform. As their program grows, the team now has the tools and technology to track and measure the success of its graduates, collaborate with employment partners, and improve program efficiencies. We're proud to be on Team Willdan! . . . #CareerEquity #WorkforceDevelopment #HRTech

You may have noticed that there’s a gap in the market – between the number of open jobs employers are hiring for and the skilled workers to fill them. Well, there’s also a gap within the journey from 'job seeker to job ready' that is challenging local talent across the country. Job seekers face many barriers to employment, including: ↳ Location – where they live, and the jobs and training opportunities available ↳ Transportation – in areas across the country without strong public transportation options, it’s more difficult for employees to get to work ↳ Technology – some applicants lack the digital literacy skills to search and apply for jobs online These are just some of the challenges that affect our workforce and impact employers' talent pipelines. What can we do to help? CareerEquity helps job-seekers get job-ready, faster with: • Interview and job readiness coaching and mentoring • Skills training in on-demand industries • Connection to wraparound employee services, including transportation, childcare, and mental health support How is your community helping to bridge the gap between job-seeker and job-ready? Share your experiences in the comments. . . . #CareerEquity #WorkforceDevelopment #TalentManagement #Jobs #JobReadiness

Utility projects are more than just infrastructure upgrades—they’re opportunities to strengthen local economies. A new look at these important local projects by our strategic partner @the-jpi-group shows how utilities are boosting local economies with a commitment to hiring local talent and partnering with local businesses and training providers. Local empowerment strategies include: • Investing in Training: Partnering with local organizations to develop workforce training programs. • Prioritizing Local Contracts: Working with small businesses to support local supply chains. • Fostering Inclusion: Developing programs that provide opportunities for underrepresented communities. By connecting utilities with local talent who have the career skills they need to thrive in the sector, and with local businesses that strengthen their supply chain, utility partners like JPI are helping drive positive, long-term impacts on our local communities. You can read more about workforce development partnerships within the utilities sector in the JPI blog, linked in the first comment below. . . . #TheJPIGroup #CleanEnergyJobs #WorkforceDevelopment

Employers keep asking us about apprenticeships! The clean energy sector is already using them as an effective tool to help build a pipeline of skilled talent. Employer-led programs like these are helping ensure that the clean energy industry has the skilled workforce it needs to grow to meet the demands of the sector. Another positive for employers… upskilling your workforce has been shown to increase employee engagement and improve retention. Reducing turnover saves companies money… and apprenticeship programs across the country are helping open up on-demand career pathways (like the clean energy sector provides) to more local talent by offering paid on-the-job training. We think that's a WIN WIN! . . . #Apprenticeships #CareerEquity #WorkforceDevelopment
