Business Executives for National Security (BENS) reposted this
#DCSA was on the road at several locations in the Northeast last week, with Director David Cattler dropping in for a chat with Business Executives for National Security (BENS). “Great roundtable discussion last week with the BENS members in Boston. DCSA was able to engage in dialogue about the threat environment and industrial security with industry leaders across a variety of sectors who are focused on national security priorities," Cattler said. “DCSA’s partnership with industry is critical in supporting the SECDEF’s goal of reviving the defense industrial base and enabling technical advantage on the battlefield,” he continued. BENS serves as a bridge between private sector and government, offering fresh perspectives and innovative insights while partnering to drive change on the national security landscape. As #BENSSpaceWeek continues, we're spotlighting resources to better understand this domain and it's connection to our daily life + security. Take a look at how NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's tech innovations are improving how we track #solarstorms, which can inform how we protect our digital and physical environments. ⤵️
New NASA Tech Makes "Ultra-Smooth" Telescope Mirrors X-ray telescopes help us track solar storms and understand the lifecycle of stars—one day, they could even help discover life on other planets. But to capture the sharpest images, we need special high-precision manufacturing techniques to build ultra-smooth mirrors. Researchers at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center have combined two existing manufacturing techniques to produce a new lightweight, high-resolution X-ray optic. Project RECXO is working on new ways to polish the molds that are used to replicate X-ray mirrors. These molds are so smooth that the bumps on their surface are no bigger than 5 angstroms—that's 50 billionths of a centimeter.
