Last week I got to spend time on our new Docking station and learning how the Grande Burro self docks to self charge wirelessly. This seems like an obscure use case for Burro Grande.... It's not Harvesting can be an excruciating and dangerous job. During peak harvest seasons in California in 2024, we saw temps frequently exceed 110° for extended periods of time. People die in those conditions. Moving to night harvesting is the only way. Traditionally, that means running diesel tractors with light bars, or gas-powered generators to power stand-alone light rigs that need to be frequently moved as the harvest progresses. Grande + Lazer Star Lights = Emission-Free Gets the job done *Bright! Exceeds lumen requirements *High CRI index light helps distinguish fruit color indicating ripeness *Safely do things like sharpening picking shears Improves safety *Prevents workers from being lost on the job *Scares dangerous nocturnal animals - snakes, coyotes, pigs, spiders *Aids EMS workers in the event of an emergency Yet another example of how Grande Isn’t A 1-Trick Burro. The results? ✅ Over 80% savings in chemical and water use ✅ A 400L tank now covers more than 20 hectares ✅ Light footprint reduces compaction and allows access even in less-than-ideal conditions 🔹 At Costa, we deployed the mower unit behind the Burro Grande, delivering clean and consistent mowing in citrus, all without a driver.
