There's nothing like the magic of spotting a rainbow after a spring rain! Your public lands offer some of the best places to witness these colorful wonders – whether arching over vast deserts, reflecting in lakes and rivers, or stretching across open prairies. Next time you're out exploring, keep an eye on the sky after a storm. You never know when nature will surprise you with a brilliant burst of color! 🌈 📸 Double Rainbow over the Upper Mokelumne Watershed, BLM Nevada; Jesse Pluim

Did you know that pronghorns, the fastest land mammals in North America, also have one of the longest land migrations? They often cross public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. We oversee more wildlife habitat than any other federal agency— including 75 million acres of pronghorn habitat. Our efforts help maintain self-sustaining populations and promote the natural abundance and diversity of wildlife on public lands. Since 2018, we have improved over 2.2 million acres of pronghorn habitat. That’s an area 300 times the size of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport!

Did you know.....Public lands play a vital role in our daily lives. Lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management provide us with valuable minerals like trona, which is mined in Wyoming. Here, over 16 million tons of trona is produced, accounting for $17 million of revenue! That baking soda in your pantry? It likely contains trona! This mineral is also key in making glass, paper and laundry detergent.

From firefighters and geologists to ecologists and park rangers, women are making invaluable contributions to help build, shape and improve how we manage your public lands and the resources found there. Their dedication ensures that public lands remain healthy, accessible, and thriving for future generations.

This week, we broke ground on a critical infrastructure project to protect and enhance the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area. Through an investment from the Great American Outdoors Act and matching grants from the Florida Inland Navigation District, the project will protect public lands resources and infrastructure, while enhancing safety in the Intracoastal Waterway around the lighthouse and providing for recreational access. Projects like this not only help protect our public lands but also restore wildlife habitat for native animals like the West Indian manatee. Through this project, we hope to create and protect suitable habitats that will naturally recruit seagrasses or allow for the expansion of existing seagrass beds. 📷 USFWS and BLM

Where the mountains drop into the sea, King Range National Conservation Area stands as one of California’s most rugged and remote landscapes. With no highways cutting through, this stretch of the Lost Coast remains wild, shaped by wind, waves, and time. Jagged cliffs, rocky beaches, and steep coastal mountains make this an adventurer’s paradise. Whether hiking the backcountry, catching a Pacific sunset, or exploring tidepools along the shore, every visit is a chance to experience nature at its most untamed.
