In 2009, Blima Ehrentreu founded The Designers Group, a cutting-edge interior design group committed to specializing in high-end spaces for commercial, residential, and healthcare portfolios. Her goal was to create a firm that would "design with purpose," ensuring that every space enhances the lives of the people using it. Nearly 15 years later, now with three locations—in Toronto, Miami, and New York—and a staff of over 30 professionals, she has remained true to that guiding principle. In May, Blima will be joining BuiltWorlds for the 2025 Buildings Conference in New York City, where she'll be discussing the impact of AI in accomplishing smarter designs alongside other experts Eric Koehler (Titan America), Eddy Krygiel (Autodesk), Robert Ioanna (Syska Hennessy Group) in a conversation led by Anushree Sreedhar (Partnership for New York City). The pandemic opened the construction industry's eyes to just how volatile the global building materials market and supply chains that support them were (and still are). We saw both lead times and prices (both for raw and building materials) skyrocket to historic highs in record times. And while it was a devastating period for the industry, it was also an incredible catalyst for innovation. From manufacturers to distributors, suppliers, contractors, and more, the industry saw innovation flourish in the materials and supply chain sectors. It expanded the potential for what is possible in the space. Yet, as much as we've progressed, we still face considerable procurement challenges. Suffolk Construction has long been a leading innovator in the construction space as well as a friend and partner to BuiltWorlds. At our recent AI/ML Conference, we had a chance to hear from the company's Vice President of Operational Excellence Kelsey Gauger and Project Engineer Joseph Kodsi, who shared insights on how Suffolk is approaching AI across its jobsites, using Trunk Tools as a specific example of the new technologies it's implementing at the enterprise level.
