Seismic design standards and codes serve as a vital safeguard against earthquake hazards. By ensuring that buildings and infrastructure are built to endure seismic forces, these measures significantly help to protect lives and reduce damage during an earthquake. Earthquakes are relatively rare compared to other natural disasters, but when they do occur, their impact is among the most devastating. This serves as a strong reminder of the significant seismic threat we face. Our hearts go out to communities affected by the earthquakes this past week!
