BioFiltro provides worm-powered solutions for cleaning wastewater, reducing greenhouse gases, and building soil health.
About us
We believe in a world where business, people, and the planet thrive. We are the only global environmental services company that uses vermifiltration to clean wastewater, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and build healthy soil for farmers, food processors, municipalities, and others who want to reduce their environmental footprint, derive economic benefits, and do right by their neighbors. Fast, Natural Process: BioFiltro’s patented Biodynamic Aerobic (BIDA®) vermifiltration system processes wastewater through a filter of biomass, earthworms, microbes, and drainage cells, naturally removing up to 90% of contaminants within four hours. Zero Waste: There is Zero Waste at the end of our process. BioFiltro produces valuable soil products based on earth-worm castings and hundreds of microorganisms that build healthier soils in agriculture, gardens or any other land around the BIDA systems. Globally Tested: BioFiltro has been proven worldwide having designed and installed more than 200 wastewater treatment systems in nine countries, spanning four continents. Accessibility and Scalability: BioFiltro’s vermifiltration system can be installed anywhere and scaled to the specific needs of the operation. Adaptability and Reliability: Our system is adaptable to seasonal and inconsistent discharge volumes and is resilient across varying climates and water conditions, using worms that naturally adapt to changes in temperature, pH and salinity for optimal performance in any industry.

Did you know? The filter media and worm bedding in our BIDA vermifiltration system is typically woodchips or another low-value carbon media. To protect California from wildfires, the US Forest Service implements projects focused on forest health and fuel reduction, including thinning, prescribed fires, and fuel break creation. BioFiltro takes these cleared logs and uses them in our wastewater treatment system, where we are then generating clean water and vermicompost to boost soil health! #biofiltro #zerowaste #woodchips #sustainability #vermifiltration

BioFiltro partnered with the University of California, Davis and Universidade de Vigo in 2023, receiving a Conservation Innovation Grant(CIG). We have been using this grant to study the impact of vermicompost application on farms with a variety of crops. Recently, we have begun our baseline sampling of soils from a prune orchard, a raw crop farm, and an almond orchard. #biofiltro #grant #vermicompost #innovation #collaboration #sampling #study
