hmm 🤔 what are your thoughts?

Sleek vs Standard Cans Q 2.0 In the past, I have asked for your opinions on sleek cans for craft beer. Well, now I have a slight tweak on the question, and before you engage, please know I am not forum shopping to support a decision it appears I might already be leaning towards. I genuinely need your feedback before we make the call. The reason I bring this topic up again is pretty simple—almost all of our prospective (or active) co-packing contracts want sleek cans. As such, we are looking at a scenario where we are in the sleek can setup over 70% of the time. Plus, we're getting more and more requests for sleek cans every day. My issue is not so much the changeovers—yes, they are inefficient, and the yields on the first run in the "new" setup are almost always poor (which is why we are going to start canning carbonated and flavored water to sell in the taproom just to get the cost back while we dial in the machine)—but it is with the general market sense and shifts in consumer behavior. If more people are using sleek cans for all products, will more products just move to sleek cans? And if we want to avoid changing the line over, maybe we just move all products to sleek cans now before the world moves all products to sleek cans then... make sense? It's ironic to me that craft beer's historical "punk/nonconformist" mentality conflicts so strongly with the one outlet many of us need to grow—grocery. A world where you must conform to best fit their real estate, as that is precious space. So that leads us back to the general idea/question. As I see it, the options include: (1) Say screw it and stay with sleek cans for all Big Storm products. (2) Bring in a person just to do changeovers in between shifts. (3) Bring in a crew to do changeovers in between shifts and dial in the machine (only need one person to change the line but need 2-3 people to run it, so this is expensive). (4) Bring in a mobile canner to pack our 12oz standards. (5) Buy a redundant and much slower machine like a used WG just to do standards for us and others. What do you all think? From a purely financial perspective, this is a pretty simple analysis, so I don't need that feedback. This is about the interconnected results of such a decision. How would moving entirely to sleek cans impact how you see our brand? Does craft beer even know where it belongs anymore, ie "that can is not craft" well what is? (And thank you to those who engaged last time; I'm curious if the new information changes your analysis/input.)
