  • The Boys & Girls Club of Harlem Mourns the Loss of Dr. Hazel N. Dukes The Boys and Girls Club of Harlem joins the Harlem community and the nation in mourning the loss of our beloved neighbor, friend, and civil rights icon, Dr. Hazel N. Dukes, President of the NAACP New York State Conference. For more than 70 years, Dr. Dukes dedicated her life to the fight for justice and racial equality. A fierce advocate for voter protection and civic engagement, she championed the empowerment of young people, ensuring they had the tools and opportunities to shape their futures. Dr. Dukes had a profound commitment to education, founding the Dr. Hazel N. Dukes Education Initiative, which supports children from birth through K-12 in accessing high-quality education. Through her leadership, the NAACP Connect All Kids initiative promoted college and career readiness, expanding STEM programs to equip youth with the skills necessary for success. Beyond her national impact, Dr. Dukes remained a tireless advocate for the Harlem community she called home. Her unwavering dedication to uplifting young people and ensuring equitable access to education and opportunity has left an indelible mark on generations to come. Today, the Boys and Girls Club of Harlem honors Dr. Dukes' legacy and joins in the collective outpouring of condolences. We remain steadfast in our commitment to carrying forward her mission, providing Harlem’s youth with the support, resources, and opportunities to reach their full potential as future leaders and changemakers.

Today, it is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Dr. Hazel N. Dukes, President of the NAACP New York State Conference and Member of the NAACP National Board of Directors. A bold and courageous warrior for civil rights and social justice. Her voice in the fight for justice will be missed. But we will continue to be influenced by its echo as we fight for that cause. Dr. Dukes was one of the giants on whose shoulders we will continue to stand as we continue to do God’s work here on earth. https://lnkd.in/g3GuNU2R #RestInPower
