  • The U.S. maternal health crisis continues to disproportionately impact Black women—an urgent issue rooted in systemic inequity. As we recognize 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸, we lift up the power of awareness, advocacy, and community care. This week is more than a moment—it's a movement grounded in the belief that reproductive justice is 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦. Let’s continue to center Black voices, push for policy change, and build systems of support that honor both health and humanity. #BlackMaternalHealthWeek #HealingJustice #ReproductiveJustice #BMHW2025 #HealthEquity #BEAMWellness

  • This month's 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚 in Los Angeles was something special. We focused on our elders—those who’ve carried us, taught us, and continue to show up in so many ways. We said, "𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘮𝘢, 𝘺𝘢 𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘺𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘬𝘴"—because healing is better when we do it together. 🖤 We held space to celebrate, connect, and have honest conversations across generations. We talked about what it means to really listen, to not judge, and to grow in how we support one another—especially between elders and adult children. 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚 is a space for community healing, storytelling, peer support and real wellness tools we can carry home. 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲? • 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 So many of us are living with PCOS and endometriosis—and too often, we’re navigating it without support, care, or answers. These reproductive health challenges don’t just impact fertility—they intersect with Black maternal health in deeply systemic ways. ⁣ ⁣ Black women in the U.S. face disproportionately high maternal mortality rates, delayed diagnoses, and chronic pain that’s too often ignored.⁣ Add in medical mistrust, communication gaps, and the pressure to always be "strong," and the toll on mental health becomes undeniable. ⁣Anxiety, depression, medical PTSD, emotional burnout; these aren’t side effects—they’re the lived reality for too many.⁣ Earlier this year, we held Heart Space—an open dialogue centering endometriosis awareness and the real, raw experiences of Black women navigating chronic pain and care. ⁣ ⁣ This week—and every week—we advocate, we uplift, and we listen. Because Black maternal health is mental health. ⁣ #BlackMaternalHealthWeek #ReproductiveHealth #HealingTogether

  • Did you know that Floatation REST Therapy is a powerful healing modality? Our Director of Training and Programs, Natalie Patterson invited individuals impacted by the LA wildfires to experience Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST). During this session at Quantum Clinic, participants embarked on a deeply meditative journey, revisiting moments from their lives to unlock healing, find relief, and support their self-care. Check out this video to hear reflections from a couple of our community members about their experience. Visit our website for wellness tools you can start using today. Stay tuned and stay connected for upcoming events!

  • What feelings were you taught were "wrong"? What feelings were you taught you “should never have”? Emotions like jealousy, along with many others, are often communicated to us as unacceptable. The Feelings Wheel is a tool designed to help us name and embrace our feelings as they arise, whatever they are. At BEAM, one of our Core Assumptions is that our feelings are valid even if the ideas informing them are inaccurate. Here our Executive Director, Yolo Akili Robinson shares more on this from our work in Brooklyn! Visit our online shop to get your Feelings Wheel and join us at our next in-person event near you or online!  📍 APR 8: Heart Space - Los Angeles  📍 APR 15: Heart Space - Atlanta  💻 APR 16: Heart Space - Virtual

  • Rest is not a reward, it’s a necessity. On Season 2 Episode 3 of Black Healing Remixed: The Podcast, Natalie Patterson and Dr. Jennifer Mullan, Psy.D (She/ Her), best-selling author of "Decolonizing Therapy" dive into 'Exploring Rage' —unpacking our relationship to spaciousness, rest, and self-care. How do we hold rest as sacred while navigating the guilt of stepping away from productivity? Let’s talk about it. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts! https://lnkd.in/eT3g_5eW

  • What does healing look like in our relationships? How do we reimagine our relationship to power? So often we focus on what we don’t want, how about focusing on what we DO want? The Healing and Accountability Wheel is a tool that can help us do this. For this tool, we invite you to review the wheel and the different sections and discuss with loved ones and community. Reflect on how you may be practicing these things, or how you may need to strengthen your skills in one area of the wheel. It’s a great tool to get the conversation going!

  • Today is International Trans Day of Visibility—a day to celebrate, uplift, and honor the resilience, brilliance, and contributions of the trans community. 💜 ✨ Visibility is more than just being seen—it’s about being valued, respected, and safe. It’s about ensuring that trans individuals are not only recognized but also supported in ways that allow them to thrive. As a community committed to wellness and liberation, we want to take a moment to highlight incredible Black trans leaders who are partners in our work and healers who are making this world safer, more inclusive, and more just. From advocating for mental health and housing security to reshaping media representation and creating spaces for trans joy, these individuals are changing lives every single day. To celebrate these individuals, BEAM partnered with Black owned beauty and wellness brand Herban Body Care to give wellness gift sets to help further celebrate them for their contributions. Stay tuned for more on that collaboration! #TDOV #BlackTransLivesMatter #TransLiberationNow
