Announcement from Baja Missions: An End of an Era: It is with bittersweet sentiments that we share that the story of Baja Missions comes to an end. For the past 17 years, God has sent a group of 60-80 people who would travel South, past the border into Baja California, Mexico to build homes and do community service for people in the area of Maneadero. In that time, the organization known as Baja Missions has built approximately 70 homes, distributed hundreds of pounds of food and necessities, provided educational scholarships to dozens of students, shared the gospel of Jesus and shown His love with our service. Through our partnerships with Baja Bound Ministries, Inc., @comunidad_encuentro, and BajaEd we have created lifelong friendships. My heart is full, knowing that there are families, especially children, who are no longer living on dirt floors; that they will have food to eat and the opportunity to get an education. However, it is also sad that the organization comes to an end; but we know that God is good and He will continue the legacy of Baja Missions through those who have come to know us. Thank you to ALL who have supported us, whether financially or through prayer. Without you, we could not have done the work that we have all of these years. God Bless you always❤️

Congratulations Rebekah from Baja Missions!
Today's Student Laureate Spotlight features Rebekah Baker of North Park University. Rebekah is majoring in Art with a concentration in Curatorial Studies. She also minors in Chemistry and is pursuing a certificate in Non-Profit Arts Management. Her goal is to study Art Conservation and Museum Studies in graduate school. Rebekah serves as an gallery assistant for Woman Made Gallery and Carlson Tower Gallery of North Park University. Additionally, she has worked for the Center for Autism and Related Disorders as a behavior technician conducting 1:1 therapy with children with ASD. Each winter since 2016, Rebekah has worked as construction and community volunteer for Baja Missions building four to five houses each year in Mexico. Her recent research of the art of under appreciated women artists from the Early Modern period led to the development of "learning boxes" — educational tools that could be used in a museum context or sent out from museums to classrooms to introduce students to the artists she researched. In her personal statement, Rebekah writes: "My work in both nonprofit organizations and art and heritage conservation are rooted in a desire to serve underserved communities and ensure equal access to resources for generations to come. Preserving histories through art, object, and text is vital in the process of building identity, determining how we want to shape our future, and upholding important core values. Guided by values of equality, excellence, honesty, and compassion, I seek to be an active advocate in my community for women and BIPOC artists by creating inclusive opportunities and fostering cultural and historical platforms through which diverse contributions can be learned from and celebrated." #StudentLaureates #NorthParkUniversity
