Updates

  • Recently, advocates came together for the Autoimmune Association's Annual Legislative Fly-In event in Washington, D.C. Sharing personal stories, these advocates met with House and Senate offices to push for critical policy changes that will improve the lives of millions living with autoimmune diseases. Their mission was clear: to ensure that patients receive timely, affordable, and effective treatments by urging legislators to support key healthcare policies. • On this final day of Autoimmune Awareness Month, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared their story, posted on social media, secured a proclamation, and supported this initiative and raised awareness in so many unique ways. Together, we made a powerful impact, raising awareness for autoimmune disease nationwide. From villages, cities, counties, and states declaring March as Autoimmune Awareness Month to 75 buildings in 15 countries lighting up in support, we’ve made our voices heard all over the world. We met with 63 Congressional offices to push for more research funding and took over social media with your amazing support. On behalf of the Autoimmune Association and the 50 million Americans living with autoimmune disease, thank you for standing with us, advocating for change, and creating hope for a brighter future. • We’re thrilled to announce that it’s officially Autoimmune Awareness Month in the United States! Last week, Representative Haley Stevens of Michigan's 11th District introduced House Resolution 225, officially declaring March as Autoimmune Awareness Month. This recognition from the federal government is a powerful step forward in raising awareness for the 50 million Americans living with autoimmune diseases. Why does this matter? Because awareness drives understanding — and understanding fuels better research, treatments, and support. When autoimmune disease is recognized as a serious public health issue, we get closer to the answers and resources patients need. A heartfelt thank you to Representative Stevens for championing this important cause! Read the full resolution: https://lnkd.in/gJExsW9Q

  • Last night was nothing short of extraordinary! Our autoimmune champions, partners, supporters, and advocates came together to celebrate our shared dedication to raising awareness, changing policy, and driving progress. We shared powerful stories, made new connections, and recognized significant contributions. Congratulations to our 2025 Autoimmune Congressional Leadership Award recipients Senator Chuck Grassley and Rep. Haley Stevens, and Raveen Jeffers, our 2025 Autoimmune Advocate of the Year. This is what change looks like—collaborating, uplifting one another, and creating a future where autoimmune patients are seen, heard, and supported. We are all in this together, and the momentum is unstoppable!

  • As we wrap up our day on Capitol Hill, we want to thank Viatris for their support and helping to make today's Legislative Fly-In event possible. Our advocates are empowered with the opportunity to share their stories, meet with their elected officials, and contribute to the brighter future we are all working together to create.
