AshBritt was proud to support Western North Carolina University students during their March 10-14, 2025 archaeological study at Asheville's historic Riverside Cemetery. Our team provided meals and resources for these future professionals as they examined root balls and cemetery areas for potential grave disturbances—work that directly contributes to local preservation efforts. This collaboration, championed by George Mingas of USACE Louisville District, represents our commitment to supporting both educational initiatives and community resilience. By investing in these students' practical experience, we're helping build the next generation of disaster response professionals. Our own Jason Fawcett joined USACE's George Mingas, WNCU's Dr. Ben Stern and Dr. Diana Simpson, and students Emma Judd, Quillan Perry, JJ Frid, Zoe Plyler, Baylee Parks, and Etalia Plesch in this meaningful preservation work. At AshBritt, we believe in strengthening communities through education, environmental stewardship, and disaster preparedness—values reflected in this partnership with WNCU and USACE. #AshBrittFoundation #BuildingResilientCommunities #DisasterPreparedness #CommunitySupport #EnvironmentalStewardship #WNCU #USACE #HistoricPreservation #StudentSuccess #NextGenLeaders FEMA US Army Corps of Engineers US Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS to Ashbritt's Safety Officer Brett Postelli, CEM - Published Author on his new book release! 🎉 This comprehensive 698-page handbook, "HIGH-HAZARD: The Technician's Introduction to Basic Chemistry & Extremely Hazardous Substances," provides crucial knowledge for High-Hazard Response Technicians (HHRT), covering fundamental chemistry concepts, standard terminology, and the behaviors of extremely hazardous substances. With his extensive expertise in the field, he has created an invaluable resource that will help technicians make informed decisions about protective equipment, field sampling, chemical identification, and safe handling procedures. This handbook serves as an essential companion to HAZWOPER training, focusing specifically on energetic, reactive, and extremely hazardous chemicals. Please join us in congratulating him on this outstanding achievement! #SafetyFirst #HazardousMaterials #EmergencyResponse #ProfessionalDevelopment #NewBookRelease
*** NEW BOOK RELEASE *** After several months and very long hours, I am happy to announce the release of the second edition of HIGH-HAZARD: The Technician’s Introduction to Basic Chemistry & Extremely Hazardous Substances. (ISBN-13:979-8312752137), Pages: 698, Dimensions: 6" x 9" This handbook provides entry-level High-Hazard Response Technicians (HHRT) with fundamental chemistry concepts, explanations for standard terms, chemical/physical properties, and reactive behaviors encountered when using safety data sheets, chemical dictionaries, NIOSH Pocket Guide, and other chemical reference materials. The most challenging and potentially lethal forms of chemicals, compounds, mixtures, and substances are identified as High-Hazard or Extremely Hazardous Substances (EHS). They will be used interchangeably throughout this handbook. Highly hazardous substances contain energetic, reactive, and chemical compositions, resulting in a higher risk of causing death, disabling personal injury, or serious illness. EHS substances are more dangerous than ordinary hazardous substances, yet all levels of substances, extremely hazardous or not, share the same basic chemistry principles and concepts. In many cases, hazardous materials and high-hazard technicians are not chemical engineers or subject matter experts on the materials they respond to. However, having some basic knowledge and understanding of chemistry terms, atomic structures, chemical properties, compatibility, and reactive behaviors will help personnel when choosing the proper personal protective equipment (PPE), performing field sampling and chemical identification procedures, considering manual or remote handling precautions, implementing collection procedures, chemical segregation, neutralization, transportation, and disposal methods. Basic chemistry knowledge gives the technician a more in-depth perspective when referencing safety data sheets (SDS) and other references such as chemical dictionaries. **** This handbook is intended to be used as an entry-level reference guide when specific chemistry terms, properties, and behaviors are encountered in the field. This handbook should be used as a training add-on to the 40-hr. HAZWOPER course expanding on energetic, reactive, and extremely hazardous chemicals. This handbook is NOT intended to be a comprehensive textbook to teach or instruct the reader in the complex fields of chemistry or related sciences. **** https://lnkd.in/exS2EZSg
