About us

Arlington/Roe was founded in 1964 by Francis Roe, father of president and owner, James A. Roe, and is respected nationwide as a Managing General Agent and Excess & Surplus Lines Broker. Begun as a general agent for mobile home insurance, Arlington/Roe has expanded to include other specialties: Personal Lines, Commercial Property and Liability (Underwriting and Brokerage), Commercial Auto/Transportation, Aviation, Bonds, Professional Liability, Workers' Compensation and Healthcare & Human Services. For over 60 years Arlington/Roe has offered professional expertise, access to specialty and E&S markets, and provided our agency and company partners with stability in changing markets. Our staff of 230+ individuals brings their combined experience using triage and constant communication to underwrite and market complex insurance transactions. Close to half of our staff has a professional designation or is working towards one. Arlington/Roe is a leader in the wholesale insurance community with active involvement in the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA), The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB), Aviation Insurance Association (AIA), Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), CPCU, Society of CIC, Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association (BIG I), Professional Insurance Agents Association (PIA), and other industry organizations. James A. Roe was the American Association of Managing General Agents president, 1999-2000. Arlington/Roe is now a third-generation family business. Jim Roe's oldest son, Andy, is an executive vice president and chief operating officer; Patrick, Jim's second oldest son, is also an executive vice president and chief sales and marketing officer. Jim's wife, Vickie, is in personal lines customer service.
