🌳 A FULL CIRCLE MOMENT🍏 This month, our team took down some Granny Smith trees in our orchard in order to make room for more productive trees that will produce more apples in the coming years. Instead of discarding the wood, we found the perfect use for it: in Porter's smoker! As you may know, different types of wood are used to smoke meat to produce a variety of flavors when cooking. We already use huckleberry, cherry, and persimmon wood to supplement the hickory wood that we primarily use. We were very excited to get to add apple wood to our collection, as our team at Porter's will use it to smoke chicken and fish, as well as our St. Louis ribs. This will give a sweet, fruity flavor to the meat when it's all said and done. It's a great full circle moment, as we give a second life to our trees from the orchard. So next time you book a meeting or a conference at Arbor Day Farm, be sure to give Porter's BBQ a try!
