I am thrilled to share that my proposal has been accepted for Nashville Design Week this October! For those who might not know, Nashville Design Week is a week-long, city-wide series of events that proudly showcase our city’s unique design talent. It’s a platform that fosters creative and critical conversations and opens studio doors to the public, all to strengthen and celebrate Nashville’s vibrant design community. This year’s theme is LET’S CHALLENGE, the notion that Nashville is the “next” anything. While our identity as “Music City” is renowned, the artistry here spans far beyond music. Our neighborhoods, once underground art scenes, are now epicenters of design. This theme pushes us to consider how our history influences our design identity today, what presence means in our rapidly growing city, and how we plan for the future without losing ourselves. As a fashion designer based in Nashville, my event will explore how Nashville's unique historical context and cultural heritage inform contemporary fashion design while looking ahead to the future. I plan to host a panel featuring local fashion experts and brand founders. We’ll discuss the current fashion landscape with a heavy emphasis on the artfulness of the design and development process. Most people only see the final product—the fashion show, the piece in the store, the website. In our fast-paced culture, I want to bring you closer to the human and intentional aspects of clothing development. I’m dreaming this event will be an interactive journey that will help us envision the future of Nashville by supporting local designers. Stay tuned for more updates!

🧶Do you use the term "sister" when designing a complementary piece? It's funny how certain terms slip out of our everyday vocabulary. I always used "sister "when I worked with bigger brands. But since going freelance, most of my projects have been one-of-a-kind pieces that stand on their own. But recently, the term made a comeback for me in the most delightful way. In 2021, I designed this sweater for my client, The Knotty Ones. It's been a few years, and this sweater has been reproduced season after season in over seven colors. And now, it's time to introduce a "sister" piece crafted from organic cotton into the Delcia family. I'm keeping some of the beloved structural details for this new design but adding a fresh silhouette to keep things interesting. The goal? To create a timeless, seasonless collection that continues to delight. I'm excited to see how this new addition will turn out. Stay tuned! ✨
