These findings—from how teachers can (and already do!) serve as brand ambassadors to how parents prefer to receive parent-teacher communication—have completely changed the way we think about school communication.

In every school community, there are three key groups that interact with your schools: advocates, detractors, and neutrals. Advocates enthusiastically support the school, detractors vocally criticize it, and neutrals—the largest group—stay quiet about how they feel. This Women’s History Month, we remember Daisy Lee Gatson Bates for her contributions to civil rights and education. Bates served as a confidant and mentor to the Little Rock Nine, standing steadfastly by their side as the nine Black students integrated Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site. Her home, a meeting place for the students, was the subject of attacks and threats in retaliation for her vocal advocacy and protection for the Nine. She reflected on this chapter of her life in her best-selling memoir The Long Shadow of Little Rock. From her career in journalism to her work in economic development, Daisy Bates left a lasting legacy in Arkansas. As such, she recently became the fourteenth woman and third Black woman to be honored with a statue in the National Statuary Hall Collection in the U.S. Capitol Building. #WomensHistoryMonth #LittleRock #LittleRockNine
