We sat down with Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, author of The New York Times bestseller 📚 What If We Get it Right?: Visions of Climate Futures, to talk about the power of personal action and why spending time in nature helps us stay determined. At AMC, we believe in the power of community and optimism to protect our natural world. Ayana’s insights are a reminder that climate solutions require all of us — our creativity, collaboration, and courage. Read the interview to find your path to action: https://lnkd.in/dgDevV3c

As Women’s History Month draws to a close, we’re proud to recognize the incredible women at AMC who are shaping the future of the outdoors. As a women-led organization, with Nicole Zussman as President and CEO, we’re proud to foster leadership that’s redefining outdoor recreation and conservation. A special shoutout to our Chief Growth Officer, Scarlet Batchelor, who was recently nominated for The Ad Club Boston’s Women We Admire award (pictured with members of her team below 📸). 👏 Join us in honoring all the women across AMC making an impact—from the backcountry to the boardroom.

At nearly 42 miles long, the Paulins Kill is the longest tributary of the Delaware River—and home to the rare and ecologically important pearly mussel. Last fall, AMC volunteers and partners from across the region suited up to snorkel, survey, and support the protection of this unique freshwater species. It's a powerful example of how community science and conservation action come together to protect biodiversity and river health. 🔗 Learn more about this underwater effort and why it matters: https://lnkd.in/eWqn4cca

Golden eagles—often called the “ghosts of the Eastern forest”—are one of Maine’s rarest birds, listed as endangered in the state. Understanding their movements is critical to shaping future conservation efforts, and AMC is working alongside Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (IFW) to support this important research. Carolyn Ziegra, AMC’s Forest Manager in the Maine Woods, recently joined IFW biologist Scott McLellan to set up a wildlife camera trap, hoping to capture data that will contribute to the broader Maine Golden Eagle Study. This collaborative effort is helping scientists and conservationists better understand golden eagle migration patterns and habitat use in eastern North America. 🔗 Read more about Carolyn’s work and this collaborative study here: https://lnkd.in/exSrcSMk

Last week 5700 United States Forest Service, National Parks, and public lands staff were let go, a massive and unprecedented reduction that is only beginning. Parks staff are essential to the protection of the outdoors. Maintenance rangers keep the trails looking their best, and backcountry patrollers keep you safe—and there are so many more examples. Honor these people by leaving a comment about how a parks employee helped you, and contact your representative about investing in public lands: https://p2a.co/e8ZyIz1
