Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive event for the Wharton Graduate Retail & Consumer Club at our Rittenhouse store in Philadelphia. Thirty-five graduate students got a behind-the-scenes look at our brand, with insights from our leaders including Holly Thrasher, Anna Welch (Leo), and Tami Jamieson. It was an energizing morning, sharing valuable strategies with the next generation of retail professionals!

🌟 Meet our Five-Star Home Stylist, Josh 🌟 Three years ago, Josh joined the Anthro Home Styling Team after earning a degree in architecture and working for the brand as a display artist. "Based on my desire to work with people and my love for interior design, the shift to Home Styling felt natural," he says. No two days are alike as a home stylist, according to Josh. "My approach to home styling starts with relationship building," he says. "Each project is rooted in genuine connection, which is necessary in a deeply personal process like designing your home. Understanding the nuances of the clients' needs is key when making design decisions." Using his experience as a display artist and partnership with the Visual Team, Josh shines when it comes to showroom styling. "I find the most joy in curating our Georgetown showrooms, which are inspirationally layered and filled with endless moments of discovery for our customer," he says. The end result? A balance of poised and playful. As for what home trends Josh is excited about, he says, "Combining different textures, tones, and finishes, like woods and metals. That helps make a space feel lived-in and cozy, while still being intentionally curated." Loving our stylists' stories? Rounding out our Women’s History Month series is Olivia Bell, a Brown Girls Do Ballet Ambassador who now dances with the New York City Ballet. A Texas native, Olivia began dancing at just two years old and became a Brown Girls Do Ballet Ambassador at 11. At 14, she moved to New York to train at the prestigious School of American Ballet, the official school of the New York City Ballet (NYCB). In 2022, she earned an apprenticeship with NYCB and officially joined the Corps de Ballet in 2023. Since then, Olivia has performed featured roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Kyle Abraham, and incredible women choreographers like Gianna Reisen, Tiler Peck, Amy Hall Garner, Alysa Pires, and Caili Quan. She continues to give back as a mentor for Brown Girls Do Ballet, providing advice, support, and fellowship to aspiring brown ballerinas. What does Women’s History Month mean to you? Women’s History Month is a time to reflect on and honor all the women who fought and struggled and paved the way so that I, and other women today, can experience the rights and privileges we sometimes take for granted. It’s also a time to look around at the women who are making history in this very moment, whose work and sacrifice will impact future generations. In the arts, there is a record number of women choreographers and leaders at major ballet and cultural organizations. It’s incredible! Their contributions are innumerable, and the impact of their voices and visions will be felt far and wide for years to come. Is there a woman in history who inspires you? So many women in history inspire me, and I’m lucky enough that one of my biggest inspirations is also my personal mentor: Debra Austin. Debra made history as the first Black woman to join the New York City Ballet in 1971. The company’s founder, George Balanchine, created many soloist and principal roles for her, and she earned rave reviews from the New York Times for her performances. She made history once again when she became the first Black ballerina to be promoted to a principal dancer at a major American ballet company outside of Dance Theatre of Harlem where she became a principal dancer with Pennsylvania Ballet in 1982. I know it could not have been easy to have been the first, breaking so many barriers. But she exemplifies what Brown Girls Do Ballet teaches: “We rise by lifting others.” Ms. Austin always uplifted other dancers and made sure that even though she was the first, she would not be the last.
