Honda is taking its hydrogen fuel cell technology to outer space. In collaboration with space and technology companies Sierra Space and Tec-Masters, Inc. (TMI), Honda will test its original circulative renewable energy system on the International Space Station (ISS). This groundbreaking project supports the vision of Honda to develop a regenerative fuel cell system that will help sustain human life on the Moon—and bring scalable clean energy solutions back to Earth. The test on the ISS also marks the establishment of a new Honda Space Development Division based in the US that will promote space technology development and enhance collaboration with the U.S. space industry. Meet Tysen Leib, The University of Akron mechanical engineering student and Honda co-op at the Auto Development Center (ADC) in Ohio. As someone who grew up in a family that owned Honda vehicles, Tysen saw the co-op program as the perfect way to gain hands-on experience in mechanical engineering while contributing to a company he had long admired. Now in his second co-op session with the Upperbody Design Department, Tysen says that alongside the technical experience, he appreciates the welcoming culture at Honda, where he has built meaningful connections with colleagues who have made his co-op experience even more rewarding. A total of 38 states have adopted laws prohibiting counterfeit airbags, thanks in part to Honda State Government Relations lead Craig Orlan. For more than a decade, Craig has been advocating across the country on behalf of this important consumer safety issue.
