Still feeling the impact of Lifting as We Rise 💫 — not just as an event, but as a powerful reminder of what happens when women come together to uplift one another! Many walked away from the event feeling inspired, confident, motivated, and deeply reflective... and most importantly, with new meaningful connections. That kind of energy is truly amazing. As women in architecture and the broader ACE industries, we need more than opportunities, we need circles that affirm us, challenge us, hear us, and stand with us. It’s within those spaces that we gain the confidence to lead, take risks, and advocate for change. 🌱 But we also know this work doesn’t happen in a vacuum. If we’re going to shift the culture of our profession, we need allies who listen, speak up, and share the responsibility of building equity. 🤍📣 Progress depends on all of us. “My house is me and I am it. My house is where I like to be and it looks like all my dreams.” – Daniel Manus Pinkwater author of The Big Orange Splot As part of #ArchitectureWeek with AIA Pennsylvania, our Chief Communications Visionary and Storyteller Amyra Weiss shared the inspirational tale of Mr. Plumbean and his formerly "neat street" with her daughter’s classroom — sparking imagination and big architectural dreams! 🎲 After the story, the students played the Animal Dice game and dreamed up: 🐒 Monkey hotels 📚 Libraries for snakes 🏠 Penguin homes 🐠 Schools for fish 🌐 Connected communities of tunnels & pathways To wrap up, students took home a Wright-At-Home activity to create sidewalk chalk stained glass in the iconic style of Frank Lloyd Wright. ✨ An inspiring afternoon of creativity, storytelling, and dreaming up the cities of tomorrow — one wild and wonderful building at a time. #FutureArchitects #AIAPA #ArchitectureWeek #ArchitectureWeekPA #FrankLloydWright #STEM

During the full meeting of the Capitol Preservation Committee on April 9th, AIA Pennsylvania proudly presented the prestigious 50 Year Timeless Architecture Award to the Pennsylvania State Capitol. This honor recognizes the Capitol’s enduring design excellence and its lasting contribution to Pennsylvania’s architectural heritage. Frank Grauman, FAIA LEED AP, head of AIA PA’s 50 Year/Timeless Award Committee and lead researcher and producer of the accompanying award video, presented the honor. In his remarks, Grauman reflected on the Capitol’s legacy, emphasizing the importance of preserving “Pennsylvania’s Palace of Art” for generations to come. Originally dedicated in 1906, the Capitol remains a symbol of democratic ideals and artistic achievement, and AIA Pennsylvania is honored to celebrate its legacy alongside the leaders and stewards who continue to preserve this architectural treasure.
