Ag Access was pleased to be an integral part of the team that brought this much needed research to life for the New York Wine & Grape Foundation. Prior to this study, the most recent data on New York's grape industry was from 2011 when there were only 285 licensed wineries compared to 2024's 513 licensed wineries. The lack of information unfortunately limited those in the industry's ability to understand crop yields and planting trends, respond to weather-related losses, or gain funding and legislative support. This refresh has already brought, and will continue to bring, much needed context and support to the grape growers of the state of New York. We look forward to seeing the growth this research will enable for the grape growers of New York! #agaccess #mrx #agribusiness #grapegrowers
New York’s grape growers and winemakers were using outdated vineyard data. The industry had nearly doubled in size since the last statewide survey. New York Wine & Grape Foundation stepped forward to champion accurate, up-to-date insights to support business decisions, research, and advocacy. And we stepped right up there with them, to make it happen. Here’s how we did it: 🔍 Combined satellite & AI-driven scans with direct grower surveys 🔍 Engaged the industry through targeted outreach & in-person events 🔍 Collected data from 257 growers reporting on 15,745 acres, identifying 53% of NYS’s 29,586 total vineyard acres Working in collaboration with Ag Access and Deep Planet, we’re proud to help the NYWGF and New York’s grape growers set a new standard for data driven decision making and insights. Some growers are harder to reach than others—especially in regions with historically low response rates. For one agricultural consulting firm, gathering data on biological adoption trends meant more than sending surveys. It required precision outreach and strong relationships across the ag community. Ag Access delivered high-quality, region-specific data that met strict quotas and allowed for year-over-year comparisons—unlocking insights they couldn’t access anywhere else.
