Christianna Miller, RN, in our Birth Center at Adventist Health Sonora, was made for more meaningful connections with patients and their families. One recent patient was so grateful for Christianna's whole-person approach to care that she nominated her for a DAISY Foundation Award, an international program celebrating compassionate nurses. The patient wrote: "Christianna exemplified the concept of nursing, not just treating me as a patient, but also as a person. It's hard to describe the stress and uncertainty of delivering a child and I am not sure how we would have done it without her... She was very positive and supportive in a way that was both emotional and medical. She made us feel calm and more comfortable just with her energy... I am struggling to adequately capture her in this nomination, but I’ll leave it at this: at one point during labor, we started talking about carbon steel cooking pans, who knows why. In addition to distracting us in this moment, she seemed genuinely interested. The day after we got home, we bought her a pan as a thank you present because we wanted to thank her that much." Thank you, Christianna, for the professionalism and compassion you bring to your work each day. We appreciate and celebrate you! The DAISY Foundation

Doctors and healthcare providers are our heroes for good reason! They make a difference every day in our hospitals, clinics, cancer centers, imaging centers and a host of other places both inside and outside our walls. On National Doctors’ Day and every day, we extend our deepest gratitude to our doctors and providers for their tireless efforts to inspire health, wholeness and hope. They don’t just add years to our lives — they help us experience our best health so we can embrace what we were made for. Would you like to send your thanks to an Adventist Health provider who has impacted your life for the better? Take a moment to share a note using this form, and we’ll pass on your gratitude for National Doctors’ Day! ahlink.org/41fxpwo
