  • ADR Services, Inc. is proud to welcome Hon. Verna Adams (Ret.) to our panel of distinguished neutrals!   Judge Adams is recognized in the mediation and adjudication of complex family law and probate matters, bringing unmatched experience, insight, and compassion to every case she handles.   A retired Superior Court Judge with over two decades on the Marin County bench, Judge Adams served in every division—criminal, civil, probate, and juvenile—but is especially known for her 14 years in the Unified Family Law Court, including 12 years as its Supervising Judge and a term as Presiding Judge. Her leadership and vision transformed the court through innovative, collaborative, and trauma-informed practices that have since become models across California.   Notably, she launched the state’s first Interdisciplinary Settlement Conference program to address high-conflict custody disputes, and helped create Marin’s Mental Health and Domestic Violence Courts and the Legal Self-Help Center of Marin. • In the March 2025 issue of Orange County Lawyer, Michael Balmages shares a thoughtful and often humorous reflection on his journey “Becoming a Mediator.” From his first mediation in the 1980s to conducting over 600 mediations and 1,000+ MSCs, Michael offers practical insights for anyone considering the path. He dispels common myths—no, you don’t need to be a lawyer, a retired judge, or a subject-matter expert—and emphasizes what really matters: training, experience, and the ability to build trust. Whether you're thinking of becoming a mediator or simply want a behind-the-scenes look at the process, this article is full of wisdom (and a few great stories). 📰 Read the full article in Orange County Lawyer, March 2025. #ADR #mediation #MichaelBalmages #OrangeCountyLawyer #disputeresolution #OCBA #legalcommunity #mediators #ADRServices
