On April 21, join us at Central for an important conversation with Bill McKibben, The New Yorker writer, activist, and educator who has been at the forefront of the climate organizing movement for nearly four decades. He will be in conversation with Rabbi Jennie Rosenn the founder and CEO of Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action, a non-profit organization that hopes to mobilize the American Jewish community to confront the climate crisis based on strong Jewish moral and religious values. They will share reflections on the current climate crisis and offer ideas on how to mobilize our communities to fight for a stronger future. Mark Earth Day at this must-attend event. Presented in partnership with Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action, Adamah NY, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism NY, and Jewish Climate Action Network NYC. Our NY Community Impact Hub is "Leading the Charge" with their workshops to empower synagogues to take climate action!
Empowering Synagogue Climate Leadership! Adamah NY just wrapped up an inspiring and thought-provoking two-day workshop, Leading the Charge, focused on strengthening synagogues' sustainability efforts and climate leadership. We were honored to be joined by incredible guests, including Will DiMaggio and Harleen Paul Srivastava from the NYC Mayor's Office of Climate & Environmental Justice, Council Member and Former Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer, and leading Jewish climate advocates like Rabbi Jennie Rosenn (Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action), Adriane LEVEEN (Jewish Climate Action Network NYC), Benjamin Elkind (Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism), and Haggai Resnikoff (Yeshivat Chovevei Torah). Our own Adamah experts—Bruce Spierer, Miriam Jarmon Ehrlich, LMSW, and Jessica Rothfleisch—brought invaluable insight and guidance, making this event a success. A huge thank you to all the participants who engaged so deeply, to UJA-Federation of New York and Annette Powers for their support and Brotherhood Synagogue for hosting us. Together, we’re building a stronger, more climate-resilient Jewish community! 🌱🌍 #JewishClimateAction #Sustainability #Leadership #AdamahNY

Thank you, Jim Joseph Foundation for supporting our critical work in JOFEE (Jewish Outdoor, Food, and Environmental Education), with outstanding partners like Wilderness Torah!
In one of our newest 20th anniversary features, we're fortunate to share insights from Wilderness Torah's Rabbi Zelig Golden and Adamah's Jakir Manela, as they reflect on how the landmark Seeds of Opportunity report shaped Jewish Outdoor, Food, and Environmental Education, and helped a nascent field advance to what it is today.
