  • From an introverted teen to an aspiring physical therapist... Former AACI client Sarah Dang's story is about her journey to self-confidence and community. ❤️ Sarah's move to California as a teen brought isolation, but AACI's BOOF program changed everything. It built her confidence and connected her to a vital community. While college brought new challenges, Sarah remembered valuable skills from AACI and sought similar groups to rebuild her support system. During this time, she also returned to BOOF as an advisor, where she rediscovered her sense of belonging. Now, a Kinesiology graduate pursuing physical therapy, Sarah's path is fueled by a desire to help others. Sarah encourages overcoming adversity through genuine conversations, believing "it opens doors to questions and knowledge about things you've always wanted to do". Her journey proves the power of community and courage. Sarah is ready to make a positive impact, carrying forward the lessons of connection and communication. 👏 AACI's youth programs have changed names and forms over the years but continue to focus on providing healthy alternatives to youth facing difficult circumstances and influences. • Congratulations to Dr. Mehta, our Managing Dentist at AACI Family Dentistry, on being named employee of the month! 👏 Here’s what fellow AACI staff had to say about her: “Dr Mehta is always nice to patients, giving them professional care. All her patients love to see her and really appreciate our services... Dr Mehta was trying hard to get a full dental team, so we can serve more people. Now, we are so happy to have a full team at dental. Our service number increase from 6 per provider to 12 or 13, 14 per day!!!” Thank you, Dr. Mehta, for your outstanding efforts in the workplace and all that you do for our community! ❤️ Dr. Mehta is one of our two dentists at AACI Family Dentistry. Our clinic provides high quality care regardless of a patient’s immigration status and insurance or ability to pay. Our multilingual care team provides comprehensive primary and preventive dental services to everyone in need. • On Friday, March 28th, AACI staff attended a Women's History Month Luncheon hosted by the Office of Santa Clara County District 5 Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga and Asian Women Empowered (AWE). This special gathering honored AACI's CEO Sarita Kohli as one of five extraordinary women who have made a lasting impact on our community! 🥳 With each award named after a District 5 female supervisor, Sarita was recognized as the Liz Kniss Healthcare Champion Awardee and our Director of Health Services, Yeshe Mengesha, accepted the award on her behalf. Former Supervisor Kniss (2001-2012) had spent over 25 years in public service, focusing on healthcare and public policy. It is an honor to be recognized in the healthcare sector with this prestigious award. 👏 Event attendees listened to inspirational acceptance speeches from all the awardees while enjoying delicious catered food from female-owned business West Fresh and boba from Yi Fang! All attendees were entered into a raffle for two Alaskan Airline tickets and got to walk away from the event with free goodie bags filled with items from the County and event sponsors! 🤩 Thank you to Office of Santa Clara County District 5 Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga and Asian Women Empowered (AWE) for hosting this wonderful event and choosing our CEO as one of your awardees! ❤️ #aaci #thankyou #district5 #supabekoga #womenshistorymonth #women #luncheon #award

  • Today is César Chávez Day! 📣 César Chávez was an inspiring civil rights activist and community organizer who championed the rights of Latinos, farm laborers, and the environment. He used his voice to bring attention to the struggles of those who were often overlooked or marginalized, and he worked tirelessly to make a positive difference in their lives. With his nonviolent tactics, Chavez co-founded the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) and organized migrant farm workers in California. He proved that one person can make a difference, and that change is possible when we stand up for what is right. 👏 At AACI, we believe in recognizing the impact of those who have dedicated their lives to creating positive change in our society. We honor the legacy of César Chávez by observing the state holiday created in his honor. As such, AACI's offices will be closed today, March 31st, and will reopen on Tuesday, April 1st. We hope this time can be used to reflect on the inspiring work he did to promote social justice and advocate for the rights of farm workers.
