We explored hundreds of ideas that weren’t just academic projects, but real-world prototypes and designs ranging from robotics to medical devices, cars to AI systems. 🤖🚗🧠 We introduced something new this year: the Inaugural CEAS 1819 Innovation Awards! 🏆🎉 Here are your winners: ✨ QL & Lower Limb Amputee Cooler Liner (Riley Lohman, Jacob Yanasak, Ethan Laake, Drew Sivon, George Kote) – A game-changing cooling liner to help lower-limb amputees manage heat and moisture—making prosthetics more comfortable and reliable. ✨ Grip Strength Assistive Glove (Jim Senick, Jakob West, Jack Blaurock) – A custom glove for people with rheumatoid arthritis that restores grip using contracting cables. ✨ CEAS Robotics Competition & Firefighter Rover (Cara B., Jamie Brandewie, Megan Sheth) – A fire-fighting rover evolved into a real-world solution, that sprays fire suppressant and uses cameras to protect firefighters. ✨ Smoothie Express (Farhan Khan, Christopher Georgiades, Michael Bruggeman, Laxmi Khatiwada) – An automated smoothie machine capable of custom orders and robotic delivery in seconds. ✨ CurvAlign Spine Magnetic Scoliosis Implant (Landon Dull, Teresa Hawk, Noah Reitz) – a more flexible, affordable alternative to traditional scoliosis treatments with a segmented magnetic implant designed to help millions move through life with less pain and fewer surgeries. 1819 is purpose-built to drive what’s next and this is what that looks like. After eight weeks and countless hours of hard work, six teams in our Venture Lab Accelerator Cohort II took the stage at Demo Day, sharing their ideas with investors, entrepreneurs, and Cincinnati’s innovation community. The evening kicked off with tabling before each team stepped up to pitch their startup.
