Native English speaker. 20 years engaging trainees with limited English ability or as a second language in Asia, Middle East & Europe. Here are some of my key takeaways. Obvious? Perhaps. However they can easily be missed, forgotten or ignored. 1. Prepare & plan. Know your audience, adapt your style. 2. Set expectations. Content is key, not language ability. 3. Use ice breakers. Identify support within the group. 4. Slow down. Prepare to explain things multiple times in multiple ways. 5. Less text, more images. Maximise hands on. Learn through doing. 6. Ask questions - Frequently. 7. Continue to reinforce expectations. 8. Localise materials. 9. Follow up on feedback. Identify improvement. Implement change. 10. Enjoy the experience.

English is official language of United States. Applicants need to learn the language before they apply for a job. It is their responsibility not the employer. Talented applicants will get their language training before they apply.

I believe anyone who is facing this challenge, he/she needs immersive experience. If it's hard to go into an environment where one could communicate with the native speakers, One must build an environment around where practice (Listening, Thinking, Speaking) of 24/7 for 90 days is possible.
