Doubt isn’t the enemy - stagnation is. When a client questions their progress, it’s not about offering reassurance but reshaping their perspective. Instead of chasing confidence, we help them gather evidence - past wins, tangible milestones, and the small shifts that signal momentum. Powerful questioning doesn’t just provide answers; it challenges assumptions, turning uncertainty into insight. Maybe progress isn’t about feeling certain, but about moving forward despite the doubt.

Doubt is normal, but I remind clients to look at how far they’ve come, not just how far they have to go. I help them track small wins and reframe challenges as learning moments. Sometimes, they just need a reminder that growth isn’t always visible right away—but it’s happening. My job is to keep them focused, motivated, and moving forward.

When clients question their progress we: 1.) discuss reframing “growth through doubt” as a ‘strange gift’ rather than seeking to avoid it completely 2.) cultivate leaning into curiosity & consider when doubt has been adaptive (ie,. doubt can keep us from getting hurt when our instinct is to act impulsively or help us pause and consider consequences) 3.) We then differentiate the doubts at hand as being adaptive or maladaptive and whether they are based in fears or truths.

The feelings of doubt and uncertainty you have about your progress are completely natural. My aim is to listen to these emotions without any judgment and to help you understand them better. I suggest we explore the factors that have contributed to this uncertainty. Additionally, let's reflect on moments when you have successfully taken even small steps, demonstrating growth and progress. Ask yourself, what actions have you taken so far that have brought you to this point? Progress is often non-linear and filled with ups and downs. This doubt may actually be a sign of your self-awareness, which is a valuable step toward growth and achieving larger goals.
