I have seen other teams use sentiment analysis to understand sentiments about a company across different parameters like trust in company leadership, quality of products, competitive pricing, company performance etc. This information is used to build narratives by the company in various forums and do effective brand management.

Sarcasm might be tackled to some extent in the contradiction detection part of the General Language Understanding Evaluation framework. If someone wrote the burger was too salty and later said, "That's great!" an algo like BERT, which is generally better than GPT-3 at language understanding (and sentiment analysis), should be able to detect that sarcasm.

Context matters. A model trained with social media articles versus a specialised model used for business content will come back with differing sentiment analysis for key words. Plus, there's the issue of bias – if the data used to train the sentiment analysis tool isn't balanced, the tool might not be either. You'll need advanced NLP, diverse data, and incorporate feedback loops with human input.

A huge shift is coming. We used to use super specialised algorithms for both language detection and sentiment detection/analysis. Coding in i.e. python was mandatory. However democratization of AI is hitting advanced data analysis as well. Done... effectively you are running a sentiment analysis using an LLM. This does scale beyond Chat: you can literally write 3 lines of code (just prompting ChatGPT through the API) asking the same thing and supplying a dataset of comments. And it does it.
