What are the best practices for prioritizing bugs during mobile app testing and debugging?

Of course by how much users it affected, and how many times it occurred We can also group many bugs that have one source of problem, and if we fixed that one problem, all those related bugs would be fixed, which is a big win

I can only answer this from the point of view as a product manager for network software. Basically we did things in stages with increasing numbers of users. In a network, it's an absolute 'no, no' to impact service availability.

The impact and severity is indeed a important aspect of prioritising the bugs. But the impact and severity is dependent on lot of factors. In my opinion ,the impact of the bug on users is highest level to consider . Because user satisfaction is the one which directly affects the business .Some bugs can only affect the business in specific regions ,so becomes important for that market . Hence carefully accessing the bugs helps in deciding the impact and severity of the bug on the business. For example : in case of mobile testing , suppose a mobile phone is not able to attach to a specific LTE band which is available only in specific country. This affects all the users in that specific country and hence impacts a complete business there.

Prior to prioritization, you need to start with a comprehensive list of all bugs identified, with detailed information including when/how occurred, behavior and identified impact. Based off this, you can then start the prioritization process based on impact and severity, AS WELL AS, risk of their occurrence in the field.

The repro case needs to represent the difficulty and severity of the bug - sometimes the first way the bug surfaces may seem trivial but there are other patterns that trigger it - so if a bug is initially triaged as low priority, the test team can help assess the total risk by looking nearby for other side effects.

There are many tools that support bug tracking and reporting. One key area that gets overlooked is driving consistency across the organization's processes for how to effectively represent the bug state, and the actions taken or needed, throughout the lifecycle of the defect is what makes or breaks the tools usage.

Operators must utilize automated testing tools to identify and reproduce bugs consistently. Prioritizing bugs that can be automated for efficient regression testing and ensuring they don't resurface in future builds.
