Test coverage is the lowest quality bar in test automation. Test coverage tools merely report a line or branch of code was executed. They are unaware of how those executed lines and branches are evaluated against the expected result of the test.

Test coverage is about meaningful and effective testing, not just high percentages. Prioritize critical and frequently changing code, covering various scenarios, including edge cases. Avoid a false sense of security by complementing coverage metrics with code reviews and exploratory testing. Maintain a well-structured and resilient test suite to reduce maintenance overhead. Focus on high-impact areas through risk-based testing and continuously improve your tests.
