I have seen ISO 27001 certified organization where the scope of the certification is IT Dept., which doesn’t make any sense for me! The objective of adopting any Cybersecurity Framework for your Information security program should be to protect the organization data and services. So most important step is the alignment of InfoSec strategy and initiatives with business goals. We need to understand what infosec risks can jeopardize the business objectives and how we can manage those risks! The framework should be able to organize the information security efforts and plans to organize, structure, prioritize, and measure it with the ultimate aim to achieve those objectives to support the business goals!

Picking the most appropriate framework that fits with your organization business needs and internal culture is crucial. The framework should be adopted for all organization units and deployment should be in phases. Top management support and adoption is key to success and the message should be clear from their side. Dedicated unit as Chief Governance or similar need to be present to lead this journey
