I think this is the most critical step on all mentioned steps as the good planning and replacement of the API will minimize the impact and also assessing the performance and capacity is critical to not be affected by performance issues or instability issues.

In my experience, every deprecation presents a new challenge to face! You may be dealing with non-technical customers who can't update the codebase, with third-party companies that charge $$$ just to update a string from v1 to v2, among many other scenarios. The technical part of upgrading an API is most likely the easiest if you follow the best practices and ensure backward compatibility as much as you can. Focus on your customers, help them understand the reasons, and guide them through the journey, especially if they lack technical skills and must deal with a third-party provider.

Well, if you selected an API that didn't promise (or deliver) backward compatibility even in the event of Feature Deprecation, then you are in a bit of a pickle, aren't you?
