How can you create an engaging and visually appealing user interface prototype?

I believe creating visually appealing interfaces is a skill that is perfected over time and is a blend of multiple good ones. Once the wireframes are ready, My approach would be to first seek inspiration - lots and lots of it. See how other similar applications in a similar industry are created. For eg: If you're creating something related to Media, I'd go for a dark, matte theme similar to Netflix, Peacock, or Hulu. This would allow me to come up with a moodboard that is an amalgamation of different interesting components and UI decisions taken by similar apps. I'd then experiment different fonts and colours and share more than one initial prototype with my team and other stakeholders to see if everyone is onboard.

Keep it simple reducing the options shown to the user. As the user becomes more engaged unwrap the other features of the app.

When I create a UI prototype, I focus on keeping it clean and visually pleasing. How? Well, I do my research. I choose a nice color combo, ensure easy navigation, and add some interactivity for that extra charm. I use good images, stick to consistent fonts, and actively listen to user feedback for improvements

Tell a story in everything you design on the screen. In this fast scrolling world, fewer words with greater meaning will always catch the eye. Address the ‘why’, ‘how’, and ‘what’s of every sentence, illustration, motion graphic, animations, multimedia and blank spaces that you have designed. And consistency is the secret sauce that will bind all these ingredients together. But how can you achieve this clarity? Through thorough human-centered research. I ask three questions while designing. What has been done? (White paper research/ market research/ competitors analysis etc.) What can be done?(creativity) And what needs to be done?(user research, user testing) Build a robust design system as a result of these questions and voila!!

After all, understanding the needs and goals is the next important thing to iterate the prototyping. For initial iteration for the ideation with the stakeholders it can be as simple fidelity to focus on the task and the content. For the next level users and stakeholders to test, it can have gray boxes to relevant dummy mock data or screenshots to engage the user to relate near to live prototype to test. So the contextual usage of fidelity and tools vary from situation to situation.

En mi experiencia luego de hacer una prueba de concepto, puedes comenzar a decidir si sera un prototipo de baja fidelidad o alta, según tus necesidades y objetivos. Por lo general cuando son de alta fidelidad es para probar la usabilidad son los más cercanos a la versión final del producto son excelentes para evaluar aspectos visuales. Toma en cuanto esto para aterrizar tus evaluacions.

En mi experiencia figma me ha sido util mas que todo por las tipografias la cual hay tipografias que no son de google fonts. Tambien es importante tomar en cuenta si es version movil o web tu prototipo. Trata siempre de trabajar con una sola herramienta que te brinda no solo soluciones para prototipo para que todo tu trabajo este centrado. Tambien me gusta Versionado y control de cambios en figma donde puedes ver tus historial de versiones. Recuerda todo depende de fin si deseas probar usabilidad te recomiendo Maze ya que ofrece planes accesibles y su interfaz se puede integrar con figma.

En mi experiencia para este paso ten en cuanto un archivo donde puedas reunir todos estos comentarios de los usuarios reales para bajar al proceso de iteracion. Prepara los escenarios de prueba: Crea escenarios realistas y tareas específicas que los usuarios deban completar con tu prototipo. Estos escenarios deben estar alineados con tus objetivos de prueba y reflejar cómo los usuarios interactuarán con tu interfaz en situaciones reales. Considera también incluir preguntas abiertas para recopilar comentarios más detallados

Aquí llega el clásico "No te enamores de la solución, enamórate del problema". Recuerda que testear e iterar no es solo un trámite. Escucha a los usuarios y si es necesario pivotear, DO IT!
