In my experience, seeking feedback from diverse sources—peers, managers, clients—offers insights into strengths and growth areas. Post-project, after presentations, or workshops, requesting feedback aids in pinpointing improvements. Mentorship, especially from experts in specific domains or tools, fuels career growth. It provides guidance, support, and inspiration, accelerating skill development and adeptly navigating complexities in business analysis.

Rakesh nailed it. Finding diverse sources for feedback is golden. Peer reviews are great if you can get them. Customer feedback is invaluable. When I was new and learning, the best results I got came from asking my QA team to review my draft requirements. (If they can't test from it, it needs work.) They were happy to help because it meant they were going to receive better deliverables in the end & speed their process later. As a senior BA, don't underestimate the value of teaching & mentoring. Your students will ask questions that remind you of things you forgot you knew, or send you to research topics you wouldn't have considered.

In my experience, feedback and reflection odds an integral part of continuous learning. Soliciting feedback from supervisors, peers and stakeholders, reflecting on past experiences and identifying areas for improvement and growth are great ways to advance your career.

I lately found that CBAP is being looked at by several organization. This certification is based on BABOK which has vast information about BA and its practices. This might be a valid and weighted certification compared to an certificate obtained through online courses.

From my perspective , BABOK guide is the base of developing your Business analysis knowledge further. 1. There are lot of YouTube channels which explains the BABOK book in a much simpler way ,, please try to understand instead of memorising the contents in BABOK 2. There are lot of IIBA pages which promote IIBA sessions and they provide clear knowledge on the BABOK guide These are some of the steps I followed to get good understanding of the BABOK guide

Once we all are looking for improving our general and specific skills, one thing that works like a charm is to find reliable sources for checking every now and then. Many can be found in BABOK and PMBOK, but if you're looking for the newest practices, Scielo can be very handy. My personal advice is to keep updated about business models and its tools, reading recent articles about BPMN, Lean Canvas, Business Canvas, AI, and Agile. All of them are a must-know for anyone who wants to become a specialist in IT business analysis.

I have read BABOK, but have felt it to be outdated. Frankly the content today is outdated. The true learning comes through posts on LinkedIn which actually tells you a lot more.

Learning perishes with time if it is not implemented. So it is imperative to practice what you learn or else you will forget it.

After being involved in a certain project, business analysts can upskill by accepting new roles and challenges as this will increase their knowledge and help them to improve themselves. They can further equip themselves in this area by enrolling into various training and upgrading sessions be it workshops, online courses or certifications to keep themselves familiar with the current industry trends and skill excellence. Also, community people, webs, succeeding folks and agencies can be a source of learning as well as exchange of information.

For me the learning is best when you can recall during your day to day work. 3 things help: 1. Pick something which you can do hands on or at least discuss in a group of people which open for the conversation 2. Learn the things thinking you can teach one of your age and another from half of your age 3. Try capturing the learnings by showcasing in an open forum like LinkedIn or your in house company forum through an article or if some assignment can be posted with your articulation of the topic.

I think learning by doing is one of the best options basically because if you dont put into practice what you have learnt in theory you won't know if you are ready to achieve It I also believe that having thoughtfull conversations with fellow BA or colleagues in the same files can provide you with very good insights on how to perform better or see things from a different point of view to continuously improving at work

Having expertise in domain where Business Analyst is involved is equally important to perform well. As BA needs to engage with business users/experts on day to day basis, he/she needs to understand, speak and write language of business so that requirement elicitation and solution design is business driven, not just tech driven. If Business Analyst is also thorough on business processes around domain, it brings edge to his/her communication with business teams.

For example, if you like the travel domain, learn everything about it, connect with others in the field, and get involved in related projects. This way, you'll become an expert in what you enjoy as well as grow professionally.

Alwyas open doors for new challenges and different business concepts, models, scopes of work, and areas of knowledge as the business analyst must act as the one-man show between him and himself, but on the outside he is the most collaborative and engaged work force in the organization.
