If you have any idea of basic data structures and have practiced them somewhat, you can easily piece together a solution. Also explaining your approach as you go can further help the interviewer understand what's going on in your head. This way even if you make a mistake, the interviewer knows you've solved the crux of the problem, and hey who knows, he/she might even give you a hint as to what mistakes you are making.
