Recently I got a senior person in a client telling me, don't talk to me about innovation culture, I don't understand that, that's a thing for hippies :) It wasn't badly intentioned, the person is driven by measurable results and prefers exact sciences (which by the way is also needed in an innovation culture). But it uncovers the difficulty in educating some senior members on a very crucial subject. If people on the top don't lead by example, they are not going to create the openness, creative, inspiring, curious, and safe environment for colleagues. Great point! Don't get caught in the "shiny new object" trap. Think fidget spinners! Innovation should solve customer problems or improve your business. Track results. Did your new app boost customer satisfaction (surveys) or sales (revenue growth)? Focus on what matters for your goals.
