Over my 20 years in non-profit management, I’ve implemented many technological solutions for finance teams. Where I’ve faced the most difficult challenges surround the change management for either the team (if it’s an internal system like an accounting platform with only finance users) or for the entire org (such as a spend management or purchase order system). When there is disagreement from various parts of the non-profit teams, what’s important is to provide multiple types of forums where staff and stakeholders can provide their concerns in the manner they prefer, be it email, virtual meetings, in-person meetings, or town halls. Providing different avenues for concerns to be voiced and heard is key to managing these conflicts.
