Bash / Linux scripting is also extremely helpful in developing automation solutions. Java has a lot of advantages, but being lightweight is certainly not one of them. Java is a great start if you want to learn Object Oriented Programming, but for a career in the cloud-native space, please consider Python and Go first.

Datenbanken sind das Herz vieler Anwendungen. Dabei laufen gerade Online-Prozesse automatisiert ab, zum Beispiel bei Online-Shops die Bestell-, Bezahl- und Auslieferungsprozesse. Leider laufen diese Prozesse nicht immer wie geplant durch. Sie brechen ab, inkonsistente Daten entstehen. Um den Prozess zu bereinigen, müssen Datenbank-Entwickler Bereinigungen per SQL-Skripte durchführen, denn der Prozess kann in aller Regel nicht mehr erneut aufgesetzt werden. Das war mein Einstieg in SQL-Datenbereinigung: bei einem Telekommunikatons-Anbieter fehlerhafte Kundenbestellungen per Update-Skripte zu bereinigen. Und erst in dieser paraktischen Tätigkeit lernte ich, wirklich mit SQL zu arbeiten. Learning by doing.

Funny to see how Terraform is muffled away in this 'DevOps' chapter. Infrastructure as Code tools, with Terraform still being the market leader (even with the inception of OpenTofu) play a major role in the cloud computing space. Even Bicep, ARM templates, CloudFormation, etc. should be mentioned here. If you want to be a cloud professional, you could even argue that this is where to start!
