The first thing that must be done is to name the gremlin. Gremlins only multiply if they are not named contained. Once the conflict or the discourse is identified, we have to ask people to be co-developers of the cure. I do not believe that being a recipient of another’s solution is most helpful.

Staff conflicts are inevitable in organizations. I dealt with employees who had differences that required immediate intervention. I've been involved in non-profit for over 40 years. Motivations is important & recruitment should not just be an open door policy. People ask for a recommendation within 30 seconds after meeting them. Many lack training, be overwhelmed or unfortunately looking for the prestige not understanding the responsibility or role modelling that they need to do. Everyone is watching; do as I say no longer cuts it. Support by the troops can be just as important as who is choosing the path. Everyone wants to be liked but many are not prepared for the requirements of leadership. Share vision, commitment and understand why your staff/ volunteers are there. Chose tasks accordingly, praise often and give feedback. Follow Weaton's law and be fair.
