High bias can lead to missing crucial data trends, resulting in systematic errors. On the other hand, variance measures how much our model's predictions fluctuate for different datasets. High variance suggests our model is over-attuned to the training data, capturing noise rather than the underlying pattern. Striking a balance between these two is essential, as they represent the trade-off in model complexity: too simple and we risk high bias, too complex and we invite high variance.

Conversely, as you decrease the complexity of your model, such as simplifying the features or parameters, you increase the bias but reduce the variance.
